Cloud Computing Coming Down To Earth

Great Lakes IT Report: Cloud computing: It's not your father's dumb terminal, or your older brother's ASP.
A nice crowd of about 80 gathered at Lawrence Technological University Thursday morning to hear from a couple of experts just how real the future of cloud computing is. It was this month's Great Lakes IT Report "Last Thursdays Unwired At LTU" event.

Paul Hillman, a co-founder of the Grand Rapids IT consulting firm C/D/H, defined cloud computing as "something you don't buy. You access it, you rent it, you are paying some kind of tenancy. You might own some portion or component but for the most part you are plugging into the cloud" — meaning the Internet.
